Dr. Geoffrey Okatubo, director of port health services for the ministry, said this yesterday in Abuja during a press briefing.
He claimed that there were 422 such cases, with 176 occurring in July and 246 in August. He also stated that the security agencies had been given the names of those responsible.
Okatubo however, said that as at last weekend, the National Port Health Services had screened over 24,000 passengers and that the services data showed that 96 percent of passengers coming into the country were fully vaccinated.
He said, “But we have noticed a sudden trend where passengers leaving the country come with fake COVID-19 vaccination cards. In the month of July, we had 176 of such cases in Abuja and for August so far, we have gotten 246 of such cases so far and all 422 people found with fake COVID-19 cards have been handed over to security agencies.”
