Nigerian hip-hop recording artist, Ice Prince Zamani, who was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for alleged abduction and assaulting an officer in the early hours of Friday, has been charged to a magistrate court sitting in Ajah, Lagos, and has ordered that the hip-hop artiste, Ice Prince Zamani be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre for assaulting a police officer.
The artiste was arraigned on a three-count charge of assault, obstructing a policeman from carrying out his statutory duties, and abduction. When the counts were read to him, the defendant pleaded not guilty. Subsequently, Magistrate Taiwo Oyaniyi granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties.
The magistrate ordered that he should be remanded at the custodial center pending the fulfillment of his bail condition. Thereafter, she adjourned the case till September 7. Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos, Benjamin Hundeyin, had earlier disclosed how Ice Prince confronted a police officer. “At 3 am today, Ice prince was stopped for driving without license plates. He agreed to be taken to the station. He, thereafter, abducted the police officer in his car, assaulted him, and threatened to throw him in the river. He has been arrested and would be arraigned today.”
