Sokoto Commissioner, Moyi Pulls Out From PDP To APC

Over the weekend, Colonel Garba Moyi Isa, (rtd) the state’s commissioner for careers and security matters, visited the All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Sokoto.

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member Moyi cited lack of trust and lack of focus as his reasons for joining the APC.

Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, the state’s leader, reportedly welcomed Moyi into the state’s ruling party.

Bashar Abubakar, Senator Wamakko’s special assistant for new media, confirmed the development in a statement.

Having given the decampee a warm welcome at his residence, Wamakko charged Moyi to ensure he works together with other stakeholders in the party to get victory in Sokoto East Senatorial District and the state at large during the forthcoming 2023 General elections.

It learned that Moyi was accompanied during the formal declaration to APC at Gawon Nama Sokoto, the residence of Senator Wamakko, by the Deputy Gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Idris Muhammad Gobir; APC Senatorial candidate, Hon. Ibrahim Lamido Isa and APC House of Representatives Candidate, Hon. Abdulkadir Jelani Danbuga; as well as APC chairman of Sabon Birni Local Government Area, Alhaji Yawale Sarkin Baki.

Many political stakeholders were also present to witness the declaration.

With Senator Wamakko’s capable leadership, Moyi said in his remark, he did not feel like letting the political powerhouse handle the affairs of the Sokoto APC supporters without being involved in his enormous efforts.

The Commissioner, who after relinquishing his PDP membership, had also announced his retirement as commissioner in charge of the state’s ministry of careers and security matters.
