On March 31, the victim was kidnapped in Abuja and transported to Lagos. She was eventually released after her parents paid a N2 million ransom.
After the matter was reported, a manhunt was launched, according to Lagos police spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin, and one of the suspects, Daniels, was successfully apprehended.
Uchenna Daniels, a 30-year-old man, was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for the kidnapping of Hannatu Kabri.
During a parade at the command headquarters in Ikeja, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the suspect was tracked down and arrested on Allen Avenue in Ikeja.
He went on to say that attempts were being undertaken to capture one Biliya, who was accused of being involved in the crime.
He said: “On 31st of March, 2022 at about 1400hrs (2pm), intelligence gathered revealed that one Uchenna Daniels, 30, kidnapped one Miss. Hannatu Kabri, 22, in Abuja and fled to Lagos.
“Operatives of the command tracked and arrested the suspect, Uchenna Daniels, at Allen Avenue, Ikeja. The suspect revealed that the victim’s boyfriend Ahmed and Biliya planned the kidnap with him and collected a ransom of N2 million in Kaduna through a Bureau de Change from the parents of the victim before she was released.
“He added that they used a toy gun to commit the crime. The investigation is ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspects.”
