Court Orders The Transfer Of Abba Kyari, Six Others To Correctional Center

Abba Kyari, the former head of the IGP Intelligence Response Team, and six others were transferred to the Kuje Correctional Center by Justice Emeka Nwike of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday.

Six others, including the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, are presently facing drug trafficking allegations.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) was ordered by the judge to transfer Kyari and the other defendants to correctional custody.

This comes after Kyari and others charged with drug trafficking were granted bail.

The court in its ruling had stated that the agency filed sufficient materials before it to warrant the refusal of bail to Kyari and his Co-Defendants.

The likes of ACP Sunday Ubia, Inspector Simon Agirgba, and Inspector John Nuhu, who are former members of IRT were also denied bail.

Other Defendants in the charge marked FHC/ABJ/57/2022, are; ASP Bawa James, as well as two drug traffickers that were arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwane.

The presiding judge, however, granted an accelerated hearing of the case.
