FIFA Suspends Kenya, Zimbabwe Over Government Interference

The international football governing body, FIFA has suspended two African countries, Kenya and Zimbabwe due to “ government interference.

The FIFA President Gianni Infantino said this during a news conference on Thursday.

Infantino said: “We had to suspend two of our members; Kenya and Zimbabwe, both for government interference in the activities of football associations. The associations are suspended with immediate effect.

“They know what needs to be done for them to be readmitted or for their suspensions to be lifted.”

Kenya’s Ministry of Sports banned the Football Kenya Federation in November 2021. (FKF).

A caretaker committee was created by the Ministry to oversee football activities throughout the country.

In November 2021, the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) suspended Zimbabwe’s federation.
