A 300-level female student of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has been kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
Sakina Bello is believed to have been kidnapped on Tuesday in Kano’s Janbulo and Rijiyar Zaki neighborhoods.
On Wednesday, the hoodlums called the victim’s relatives and wanted a ransom of N100 million, according to Metro.
DSP Abdullahi Haruna, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident.
Around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, he added, the police got a report of a missing person.
Haruna stated that the command had leaped into action to track down her whereabouts.
BUK spokesman Lamara Azare also commented on the matter, saying the university had not been in session since July and will reconvene on November 1.
“At this time, there are no students residing on campus, and we have not received any reports of student abduction,” he said.
