2025 Anambra Governorship: Soludo Emerges APGA Flagbearer Unopposed

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has been nominated as the flagbearer of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the November 8, 2025 governorship election.

Soludo secured a unanimous nomination, receiving over 300 votes during the party’s primary held in Awka on Saturday. The election saw delegates from all 21 local government areas of the state casting “yes” or “no” votes.

Chairman of the electoral panel, Uche Nwegbo, announced that out of 3,260 delegates, 3,175 were accredited, with 3,172 votes cast. A remarkable 3,168 delegates voted “yes,” ensuring Soludo’s unopposed nomination.

Amidst jubilant cheers, Soludo expressed his gratitude during his acceptance speech: “I’m humbled by this unprecedented historic display of solidarity, support, and overwhelming mandate,” he said. “I accept the nomination with humility and a commitment to continue with the progressive movement in Anambra.”

Soludo confirmed that he would run for re-election alongside his current deputy, Onyeka Ibezim, as his running mate.

As other political parties conclude their primaries, the competition for the 2025 governorship election is expected to take shape.
