Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to the international community on Sunday not to “turn a blind eye” as Russia intensifies long-range attacks on Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure, saying Moscow fired more than 3,300 munitions over the past week alone.
In a social media post, Zelenskyy said Russia launched more than 2,000 attack drones, 1,200 guided aerial bombs and 116 missiles into Ukraine in the past seven days. “Almost every day, they strike energy facilities, logistics infrastructure, and residential buildings,” he said, noting that the attacks continue even as diplomatic efforts toward peace are underway.
Ukraine’s air force reported that Russia launched 101 drones overnight from Saturday into Sunday. Of those, 69 were shot down or electronically suppressed, while 32 struck targets across 13 locations.
The barrage came as Russia maintains a sustained winter campaign against Ukraine’s power grid. Saturday night’s attacks followed a major drone and missile assault on Friday that caused widespread power outages across much of the country.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said strikes overnight hit an industrial facility in the central city of Poltava, a residential building in the eastern city of Kramatorsk, an industrial site in the southern port city of Odesa, and multiple residential buildings in Kherson.
“The world must not turn a blind eye to Russian attacks,” Zelenskyy said early Sunday. “When there is no global response, the strikes become more frequent and increasingly brutal. This can be stopped through real support for Ukraine and our defense.”
He renewed calls for additional air defense missiles and weapons, arguing that sustained international pressure is essential for diplomacy to succeed. Zelenskyy also announced new Ukrainian sanctions targeting foreign companies accused of supplying critical components used in Russian drones and missiles, saying the cost of the war must become “untenable” for Moscow.
Ukraine, meanwhile, continued its own long-range strikes against Russia. Russia’s Defense Ministry said its air defenses shot down 22 Ukrainian drones overnight.
