Woman Sues Andrew and Tristan Tate, Alleging Coercion and Defamation

A woman in the United States has filed a civil lawsuit against internet personalities Andrew and Tristan Tate, accusing them of coercing her into sex work, luring her to Romania, and later defaming her after she testified against them.

The complaint, filed Monday in Florida, marks the first legal action against the Tate brothers in the U.S., according to The New York Times.

The Tates are already facing legal troubles in Romania and Britain, with allegations ranging from:

  • Human trafficking
  • Trafficking of minors
  • Sexual intercourse with a minor
  • Money laundering
  • Forming an organized criminal group

The brothers deny all allegations.

The woman, identified as “Jane Doe”, alleges that the Tates attempted to harass and intimidate her by suing her for defamation in 2023.

A court granted anonymity to her and her parents due to safety concerns.

In Romania, Andrew Tate was released from house arrest last month but remains under preventative measures as authorities continue a second criminal investigation.

A previous case against him was dismissed in December, after the Bucharest Court of Appeals ruled in his favor, sending the case back to prosecutors.

Joseph D. McBride, a lawyer representing the Tate brothers, told The New York Times that there is no evidence linking his clients to human trafficking, adding:

“The truth is on their side.”

As dual U.S. and British citizens, the former kickboxers are among the most high-profile figures facing human trafficking charges in Romania, with legal battles continuing across multiple countries.
