Wike Confirms 1,659 FCTA Staff After Verification

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has approved the confirmation of the appointments of 1,659 staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

The affected staff were among the 2,281 workers who participated in a confirmation examination conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission on February 28, 2026.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Senior Special Assistant to the minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, quoted the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, as saying that some of the workers who participated in the exercise had been employed as far back as 2016 and 2019.

According to Ezeh, 2,512 candidates were initially invited to take part in the confirmation examination, but only 2,281 eventually sat for the test.

He noted that the absence of 224 officers from the exercise had raised suspicion that some of them could be ghost workers.

Ezeh also disclosed that while some of the workers had been employed several years earlier, others joined the FCTA shortly before Wike assumed office as FCT minister in August 2023.

Meanwhile, the FCT Civil Service Commission has concluded plans to conduct both the 2025 and 2026 promotion exercises, in line with approvals granted by the minister and the administration’s workforce development agenda.

The commission urged candidates to visit its official website for further information regarding the exercise.
