“We’ll Capture the Entire Southwest” – Ganduje

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has expressed confidence that the ruling party will secure victory in the upcoming Ondo State governorship election on November 16, positioning the APC to capture the entire Southwest. Ganduje made this statement during a stakeholders’ meeting in Akure, Ondo’s capital, on Sunday, where he was accompanied by top party members and Southwest governors, including Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), and representatives of Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Ganduje emphasized that in addition to winning in Ondo, the APC plans to strategically capture Oyo and Osun states, which are currently governed by opposition parties. He urged party leaders to foster unity and rally around incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to ensure victory.

“In this geopolitical zone, we must deliver 100 percent in favor of APC,” Ganduje said, adding that the governorship election in Ondo is “a walkover for the APC” with all national leaders backing Aiyedatiwa. He appointed Governor Sanwo-Olu as Chairman of the National Campaign Council, tasked with leading the campaign for the Ondo election.

Sanwo-Olu called for unity within the party, stressing the importance of overcoming internal divisions to prevent opposition parties from winning Ondo. He encouraged all factions to support Aiyedatiwa in the election, saying, “We need everybody in that train, irrespective of our differences.”

Ganduje also appealed to those who had contested the APC primary alongside Aiyedatiwa to support the governor, assuring them that there were no losers in the race, only unity for the party’s success.
