Victor Osimhen Joins Galatasaray in Record €75M Deal, Becomes Highest-Paid Player in Turkish Football

In what is being hailed as the most historic signing in Turkish football, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is set to officially join Galatasaray from Napoli in a sensational €75 million transfer, the most expensive in the country’s football history.

The deal, finalized after weeks of intricate negotiations, will see Galatasaray pay €40 million upfront, with the remaining €35 million structured in instalments to be completed by the end of 2026. Napoli also secured a €5 million performance-based bonus, a 10% sell-on clause, and a two-year restriction barring Osimhen from transferring to any Serie A club.

Sources close to the negotiations confirmed that Napoli’s demand for a bank guarantee has been satisfied, and the final documentation is now awaiting signatures. Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek, alongside board member Abdullah Kavukçu, led the high-stakes discussions and has already informed head coach Okan Buruk of Osimhen’s imminent arrival.

“We’re bringing Osimhen to Istanbul within the week,” Özbek reportedly told club officials.

Osimhen, who starred for Galatasaray last season while on loan, scored 37 goals in 41 appearances, propelling the Turkish champions to a domestic league and cup double. The 26-year-old striker is expected to arrive in Istanbul tomorrow, where he will be officially unveiled at Rams Park in front of thousands of jubilant fans. A grand welcome ceremony and public presentation are already planned, with supporters calling it a “historic arrival.”

According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, Osimhen will sign a four-year contract worth €18 million annually (approximately ₦32 billion), instantly making him the highest-paid player in the Süper Lig.

Despite receiving a €160 million mega-offer from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal, and strong interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Newcastle, Osimhen opted for continuity in Europe and embraced Galatasaray’s project signalling his commitment to competitive European football.

The landmark deal significantly boosts Galatasaray’s attacking options and reflects the club’s rising continental ambition, as well as its capacity to attract top-tier talent in an increasingly competitive transfer market.
