The returnees landed through Azman Air and were welcomed by top Federal Government officials at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, headed by the Director, Legal and Consular Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bolaji Akinremi, according to LEADERSHIP.
The majority of the evacuees, according to the Ministry, were students from Sumy, which was besieged by Russian forces.
Also, another 123 Nigerians have returned from Poland as a result of the Ukraine war.
Following an agreement between the Nigerian and Ukrainian governments, a route was built for them to depart the city.
This is the sixth set of evacuees in a week-long drill that began roughly a week ago.
On Friday, 123 evacuees were returned to Nigeria from Poland, as Nigeria continues to repatriate its citizens from the besieged Ukraine.
So far, about 1,500 Nigerians have returned home from Poland, Romania, and Hungary.
Head of Technology Transfer Innovative of Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. AbdurRahman Terab, said in addition to the $100 given to each returnee on Friday, NIDCOM in partnership with MTN gave each of them a free SIM loaded with N5000 airtime.
According to him, once the SIM is activated, the N5,000 airtime multiply to N19,500 worth of airtime.
This additional kind gesture was well received and appreciated by all the evacuees.
