Trump Appoints Tom Homan as Border Czar, Elise Stefanik as UN Ambassador Ahead of White House Return

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has announced two significant appointments in preparation for his return to the White House in January.

Trump has named Tom Homan, 62, as the “border czar.” Homan, who previously served as acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), will oversee national border security, including the southern and northern borders as well as maritime and aviation security. “Tom Homan will be in charge of all Deportation of Illegal Aliens back to their Country of Origin,” Trump shared on his Truth Social platform, expressing confidence in Homan’s ability to handle the role.

Additionally, New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, 40, has been appointed as ambassador to the United Nations, as confirmed in a statement to the New York Post. Stefanik said she was “truly honored” by the nomination and looks forward to gaining Senate approval.

Meanwhile, the Republican Party is on the verge of securing a majority in both chambers of Congress. With a Senate majority already in place, Republicans need just a few more seats to control the House of Representatives. According to CBS News, Republicans hold 215 seats compared to the Democrats’ 210, with 218 seats required for a majority. Control of the House would empower the party to initiate spending bills and potentially launch impeachment proceedings, bolstering Trump’s ability to implement his agenda.

An official announcement of Stefanik’s UN ambassador role is anticipated soon.
