Trump Agrees to Debate Against Harris with Fox News

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced late Friday that he had agreed with Fox News to debate Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris on September 4.

“I have agreed with Fox News to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform. However, it was not immediately clear if Harris had agreed to the debate.

This announcement came just hours after Harris secured the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination for the November election.

Trump’s campaign was significantly altered on July 21 when President Biden, 81, withdrew his candidacy amid growing concerns about his age and lagging polling numbers, endorsing Harris instead.

Biden decided to step down after a poor debate performance against Trump in June on CNN.

A second debate between Trump and Biden had been scheduled for September 10 on ABC television. That debate is still expected to take place, with Harris replacing Biden. However, Trump’s spokesman Steven Cheung stated last week that it was “inappropriate” to schedule it before Harris was formally the Democratic nominee.

In his post, Trump provided details about the debate venue and moderators, mentioning it would be held before a full audience.
