A shooting during a homecoming event at Alabama’s Tuskegee University in the early hours of Sunday left one person dead and several others injured, including students, according to a statement from the university.
The incident occurred on campus, resulting in the death of a non-university individual. “The parents of this individual have been notified,” the university confirmed. Several injured individuals, including Tuskegee students, are currently receiving medical treatment at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika and Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery.
Emergency responders, along with campus and local law enforcement, have secured the area, and the Alabama Bureau of Investigations has launched an active investigation into the shooting.
The university is conducting student accountability checks and notifying parents, promising further updates as more details emerge.
