Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan stormed to a commanding victory in the women’s 100 meters hurdles at the 2025 Rabat Diamond League, clocking a season’s best of 12.24 seconds to set a new meeting record.
The 28-year-old hurdler shattered the previous record of 12.51 seconds set by American Brianna McNeal, securing her first major win of the 2025 season and reaffirming her position among the world’s elite in the event.
Amusan’s performance in Rabat marks a significant comeback following a challenging 2024 season in which she failed to reach the finals at the Paris Olympics. Earlier this year, she finished fourth at both the Xiamen and Shanghai Diamond League meetings in May but began the season with a win at Jamaica’s Velocity Fest 16.
Now training with the Racers Track Club under the guidance of legendary coach Glen Mills best known for coaching sprint icon Usain Bolt Amusan credits her resurgence to a renewed emphasis on technical drills.
“More hurdles practice, because I have been doing more sprinting,” she explained after the race. “It was after the first two Diamond League meetings, I knew I had to go back to doing more hurdle drills. Two weeks in, I can tell the difference.”
A three-time Diamond League champion from 2021 to 2023, Amusan’s latest triumph sets the stage for a strong campaign as the season progresses, signaling a return to top form just in time for the summer’s key competitions.
