Tinubu: We’re Building a Capital That Works for Everyone

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive national development, pledging that no community will be left behind in the quest for progress and equity.

Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday during the commissioning of the newly constructed collector road CN-8 (Asuquo Okon Street) and adjoining roads in Dakibiyu District, Abuja, Tinubu emphasized that governance must benefit all citizens equally, regardless of location.

“We are determined to ensure that development knows no postcode, that governance does not discriminate, and that the dignity of our citizens is not defined by their geography,” Tinubu said.

The road network, which links arterial road N-5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) in Jabi to arterial road N-1 (Olusegun Obasanjo Way) in Dakibiyu, is expected to improve mobility, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance access to public services in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

President Tinubu pledged continued support to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and underlined the role of infrastructure as a symbol of effective governance.

“When a city works, when its roads are paved, its lights are on, and traffic flows smoothly, it shows the government is not just present but purposeful. This is not just a road, it is a symbol of commitment and momentum,” he said.

He stressed that modern infrastructure not only attracts investment and restores public confidence but also enhances national unity and economic growth.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who was also present at the event, praised the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for approving the project, which commenced in October 2024.

Wike revealed that the road was previously in a deplorable state, hindering access to several key government institutions and frustrating residents.

“This intervention was both strategic and long overdue. It will significantly improve access and mobility in a critical part of Abuja,” Wike said.

He commended the Tinubu administration’s focus on infrastructure renewal and promised continued delivery of impactful projects across the FCT.
