Tinubu Postpones FEC Meeting in Honor of Late Army Chief Lt. General Lagbaja

President Bola Tinubu has postponed the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting originally scheduled for today to a future date in memory of Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff, who passed away on Tuesday night. The postponement was confirmed in a statement on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

Lt. General Lagbaja, who was appointed as the 27th Chief of Army Staff on June 19, 2023, served in the role until his death on November 5, 2024. In honor of the late general, President Tinubu has directed that flags fly at half-staff nationwide for the next seven days. The President expressed his condolences to the Lagbaja family and the Nigerian Armed Forces, recognizing his unwavering dedication and wishing him eternal peace.

Lagbaja’s military career began at the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1987, and he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Nigerian Infantry Corps on September 19, 1992, as part of the 39th Regular Course. Throughout his career, he played pivotal roles in several key security operations, including Operation ZAKI in Benue State, Lafiya Dole in Borno, Udoka in Southeast Nigeria, and Operation Forest Sanity in Kaduna and Niger States.
