Tinubu Approves Salary Hike, Pension Payments for Nigerian Armed Forces

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a salary increment for Nigeria’s armed forces and authorized the payment of three months’ salary arrears.

The announcement was made on Friday by Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, through a statement from the ministry’s spokesperson, Henshaw Ogubike.

The government has also released funds to settle outstanding pensions and entitlements owed to retired military personnel. Alerts for the three-month salary arrears have started reaching military personnel, marking a significant morale boost.

Matawalle praised Tinubu’s dedication to the welfare of both serving and retired members of the armed forces. He emphasized that addressing the backlog of pension arrears remains a top priority.

“Despite initial setbacks, the President is committed to uplifting our military forces as they tackle the nation’s security challenges,” Matawalle assured.
