President Bola Tinubu has named Dunoma Ahmed as the new permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry announced the appointment on Thursday, following Ahmed’s assumption of duties on July 23. He replaces Ibrahim Lamuwa, who faces accusations of sexual harassment from female colleagues.
The ministry’s statement highlighted Ahmed’s distinguished career and educational background, noting his previous role as the permanent secretary in the Federal Ministry of Youth Development. Born on October 15, 1968, in Maiduguri, Borno State, Ahmed has held various positions in public organizations and the federal civil service.
The allegations against Lamuwa came to light in June when Simisola Fajemirokun Ajayi, a married aide to Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, filed a petition accusing Lamuwa of inappropriate conduct and inviting her to his hotel room on several occasions. A letter to President Tinubu last month from ministry officers indicated that such allegations have been a “recurring feature in Lamuwa’s public service career.”
In response, Tuggar requested Folasade Yemi-Esan, Head of Service of the Federation, to address the matter accordingly.
