The Journey To Reduce Youth Unemployment Is Just Beginning – Gov. Sanwo-Olu

Lagos state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has stated that the journey to reduce youth unemployment is just beginning after supporting over 50,000 new MSMEs established by young people in the state.

Sanwo-Olu via his social media tweeted and said “I firmly believe in the power of partnership to tackle youth unemployment. That’s why I am calling for increased collaboration between the Government, private sector, and NGOs. Together, we can create more opportunities and reduce unemployment rates.”Today, I had the privilege of receiving the leadership of Prince’s Trust International, a global youth charity. Their commitment to supporting youth empowerment aligns perfectly with our vision for Lagos.”

“Through the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), we have already supported over 50,000 new MSMEs established by young people. But the demand is growing, and we need to do more. We must provide more investment funding opportunities for the youth.

“I am impressed by the work of Prince’s Trust International, and I urge them to channel their funds towards creating more opportunities for entrepreneurs in need of business development skills and seed capital. This will widen employability and encourage the growth of MSMEs.”

“To equip our young people for success, we need to focus on skill development. The recently launched Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) aims to provide knowledge and industry-specific expertise. We must empower our youth to thrive in the modern economy.”

“Technology has removed barriers in the modern economy, and we must embrace it. I commend Prince’s Trust International for embedding technology into their intervention programs in Nigeria. Together, we can scale up our efforts and make a real impact on youth employment.”

“The journey to reduce youth unemployment is just beginning, and I am grateful for the support and commitment of Prince’s Trust International. Together we will create a brighter future for our youth.  Let’s make it happen.”
