Sule Lamido Vows to Boycott PDP Meetings Until Wike Is Expelled

Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has announced his decision to boycott all meetings and official functions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) until Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is expelled from the party.

In an interview on Tuesday, Lamido accused the PDP leadership of tolerating anti-party activities without imposing consequences, warning that such leniency erodes party discipline and sets a harmful precedent.

“I remain a PDP member, but I will not participate in party functions or answer calls to meetings while these individuals remain in leadership,” Lamido stated firmly.

He further criticized the continued inclusion of figures like Samuel Ortom, former governor of Benue State, in the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), despite their public endorsement of candidates outside the PDP during the 2023 presidential election.

“People like Ortom, who declared support for Obi in 2023, are still members. That’s why I’ve said I will not attend any PDP meeting unless Wike is expelled and people like Ortom are removed from the BoT,” Lamido said.

Lamido lamented what he described as a decline in internal party discipline, noting that the PDP once upheld a strong culture of accountability and adherence to its constitution. Today, he observed, leaders openly flout party rules without fear of sanction.

His remarks come amid heightened internal tensions within the PDP, as the party navigates defections, loyalty challenges, and increasing calls for reform. Lamido’s stance adds pressure on the party to take decisive action against members perceived to be undermining its unity and stability.
