Southeast Governors to Seek Nnamdi Kanu’s Release in Talks with Federal Government

The Southeast Governors’ Forum has announced plans to engage the Federal Government to secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The resolution came during a meeting in Enugu hosted by Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
In a communique issued after the meeting, the governors emphasized their commitment to addressing regional issues and enhancing security and economic integration. “The Forum resolved to visit Mr. President to discuss pressing issues concerning the Southeast Region and to interface with the Federal Government to secure the release of Mr. Nnamdi Kanu,” part of the communique read.
The Forum also extended condolences to the governments and people of Abia, Ebonyi, Imo, and the entire Southeast on the passing of former Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, offering sympathies to his family.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, and His Royal Majesty Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, Obi of Onitsha, joined the governors at the meeting in a show of solidarity. All five regional governors were present, including Senator Hope Uzodinma of Imo, Dr. Alex Otti of Abia, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, and the host, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
