Shettima: Nigeria Won’t Allow Insurgents Destroy Peace

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has declared that the Federal Government will not allow insurgents to undermine the country’s peace or intimidate its citizens following recent attacks in Borno State.

His remarks came after a series of attacks reportedly carried out by insurgents in several communities across the state. The incidents included abductions in Ngoshe and coordinated assaults on military positions in Konduga, Marte, Jakana, and Mainok.

In a statement shared on X by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President, Shettima condemned the violence and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

“The events of the past few days are painful, but we must choose hope over fear,” the Vice President said.

Shettima disclosed that the Federal Government has begun deploying additional tactical equipment and intelligence support to the affected areas as part of efforts to strengthen security operations.

He also revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been fully briefed on the situation and has directed a swift and comprehensive mobilisation of Nigeria’s security apparatus.

“The Federal Government will not allow any place in Nigeria to become a safe haven for people who want to displace citizens or take over any part of our land,” Shettima stated.

He assured Nigerians that those responsible for the attacks would be identified and brought to justice, stressing that the government remains determined to confront insurgency and restore lasting peace to affected communities.
