Shettima: FG To Collaborate With Nasarawa On Karu’s Infrastructure

Vice President Kashim Shettima has guaranteed the federal government’s dedication to partnering with Nasarawa State for the development of infrastructure in the Karu region.

He reaffirmed this commitment during the official inauguration of the five-kilometer Masaka-Luvu Road in the Karu local government area of the state. Karu, situated along the border of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), accommodates numerous federal government employees. The vice president, praising Governor Abdullahi Sule for initiating projects directly benefiting the people, expressed that the federal government is committed to collaborating with the state in revitalizing the Karu area through essential infrastructure and interventions.

Shettima emphasized that the Masaka-Luvu road plays a pivotal role in unlocking the economic potential of Karu and, by extension, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Describing Karu as a burgeoning metropolis, he underscored the road’s significance in enhancing access to markets, job opportunities, and essential services, ultimately improving the lives of numerous residents. Commending Governor Sule for collaborating with the federal government on various crucial projects, Shettima acknowledged the governor’s dedication to the people of Nasarawa. He praised Sule’s understanding of infrastructure as the foundation of development, noting the governor’s proactive approach to accomplishing tasks.

Governor Abdullahi Sule expressed gratitude for the commissioning of the road, considering its historical significance. Despite his administration undertaking more extensive road projects, such as the 24km Mararaba-Udege stretch and the 18km Sisin-Baki-Farin Ruwa road leading to the first hydropower plant initiated by former governor Adamu nearly 30 years ago, Sule highlighted the historical aspect of the Masaka-Luvu road. He noted that successive administrations had not been able to construct the road until now.

He mentioned that his drive to initiate the project was fueled by an incident when he accompanied former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to Luvu for a housing project commissioning. The journey, which should have taken about 15 minutes, extended to nearly one and a half hours due to the road’s appalling condition.

“Every governor from Abdullahi Adamu that came to this place had promised doing this road. You can imagine my excitement today that this road has been completed,” he remarked.
