Vice-President Kashim Shettima has asserted that President Bola Tinubu is dedicated to the interests of Northern Nigeria.
Shettima made this statement yesterday in Kano while receiving a Federal Government delegation led by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila. The delegation was on a condolence visit following the death of Shettima’s mother-in-law, Hajiya Maryam Abubakar.
Shettima highlighted Tinubu’s favorable actions towards the North, citing the appointment of two Ministers of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, all from the region. He urged Nigerians to support Tinubu’s initiatives to enhance the nation’s prosperity, emphasizing that governance should transcend political party lines.
“The president’s commitment to the region’s growth is evident through key appointments and actions,” Shettima remarked. He emphasized the importance of unity and progress over party differences, illustrating his point by acknowledging the support he received from Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) during his bereavement.
Shettima stressed that the focus should now be on governance rather than politics. “Ensuring Nigeria’s greatness is a collective responsibility, and political affiliations should not be a source of division and destruction,” he stated. He called for unity and cooperation among all political parties to achieve the nation’s goals.
The vice-president’s comments aim to reassure the Northern region of Tinubu’s commitment and to foster national unity and cooperation in the quest for Nigeria’s greatness.
