Shettima Confident in Nigeria’s Economic Recovery, Cites Tinubu’s Reforms

Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed optimism about Nigeria’s economic recovery, crediting President Bola Tinubu’s reforms for steering the nation toward growth and stability.

Speaking at a one-day retreat for presidential aides and unit heads on Saturday in Abuja, Shettima highlighted positive economic indicators, including an increase in crude oil production to 1.8 million barrels per day.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is determined to change the fortunes of this nation,” Shettima said. “Yes, the economy has faced challenges, but we have turned the corner. The economy is on an upward trajectory, and I am optimistic that in the coming year, it will grow in leaps and bounds.”

The Vice President urged aides to strengthen collaboration and dedication to achieving the administration’s objectives. “The country is greater than all of us. Let us work as a team and as a family to help the President deliver on his mandate,” he added. Senator Hassan Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), stated that the retreat aimed to enhance synergy, streamline project funding, and improve coordination with ministries, departments, and agencies.

Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, commended the aides’ efforts in strategic communication while calling for better collaboration within the presidency. Similarly, Dr. Aliyu Moddibo Umar, Special Adviser on General Duties, emphasized the importance of focus and humility in achieving the administration’s goals.

Also present were Olufunso Adebiyi, Permanent Secretary in the State House; Tope Fasua, Special Adviser on Economic Matters; and other senior officials from the Office of the Vice President.   The retreat sought to reinforce teamwork and ensure effective execution of the Vice President’s mandate in alignment with the administration’s vision for national transformation.
