The Senate has instructed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun to ensure the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Hussaini Magaji, appears before the Senate Committee on Finance within 24 hours.
Citing Section 89, sub-section 2, Senator Sani Musa, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, issued the directive during the budget defense session on Wednesday, highlighting discrepancies in revenue generation and expenditure by the Corporate Affairs Commission.
Although the committee previously identified shortcomings during the MTEF/FP defense, Magaji has reportedly ignored the committee’s summons for the third time, a behavior described as disrespectful.
Senator Musa expressed, “You have your bookkeepers; you have your records, and we asked you to go and tidy up and report back, but you never did.”
The committee unanimously resolved that the IGP must produce the CAC boss before the finance committee without fail on Thursday.
