According to state media reports on Saturday, Russian authorities apprehended 11 individuals following a horrific attack at a concert hall in Moscow, which claimed the lives of at least 115 people.
The Russian Investigative Committee disclosed that four of the detainees were directly implicated in the assault, which left the expansive shopping mall and music venue engulfed in flames with a collapsed roof.
While the Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack through a statement, Russian agencies hinted at a potential link to Ukraine. However, a U.S. intelligence official informed The Associated Press that U.S. agencies had confirmed the Islamic State group’s involvement in the assault.
The four suspects were intercepted in the Bryansk region of western Russia, close to the Ukrainian border, as per the Russian Investigative Committee. They were reportedly en route to Ukraine and had established contacts there, as indicated by Russia’s FSB. The FSB chief briefed President Vladimir Putin on the arrests on Saturday, according to reports from state news agency Tass.
