Presidential Tribunal Moves Atiku’s Petition Against Tinubu To May 11

Atiku Abubakar
The pre-hearing of the appeal Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, filed against Bola Tinubu, the President-elect, has been moved by the Presidential Election Tribunal till Thursday, May 11, 2023.
In an effort to overturn Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election, the former vice president and his party, the PDP, filed a lawsuit with the court.
Atiku accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of rigging the election in Tinubu’s favour.
In a petition filed against Tinubu, the PDP’s candidate for president urged the court to recognise him as the next president.
While speaking to the court on Tuesday, Atiku’s lawyer Chris Uche noted that some persons (Tinubu, INEC) waited until 4 am to make their announcement.
Uche (SAN) stated this while responding to the tribunal’s clarification that Atiku’s petition will be heard by 2 pm on Thursday and not 2 am.
The Counsel said everybody knows the people who wait till 2 am or 4 am to make announcements.
On Thursday, the Tribunal will decide whether to grant Atiku’s prior request for a live broadcast of the proceedings.
The fresh petitions filed by Tinubu’s legal team to reject Atiku’s petition at the pre-hearing stage would be considered on the new date, according to the presiding justice, Justice Haruna Tsammani.
