Presidential Election Tribunal Continues Petition Hearing Of APM, PDP Today

Monday marked the beginning of the pre-hearing stage for the petitions challenging the results of the February 25 presidential election before the Presidential Election petition Tribunal in Abuja.
The presiding Judge, Justice Haruna Tsammani on Monday declared that the petition of APM and PDP will be heard on Tuesday.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for president, Bola Tinubu, is being challenged by the likes of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, and Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Recall that Tinubu got 8,794,726 votes, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which announced him the winner.
However, after the election body’s announcement, Obi and Atiku expressed their displeasure, which led them to appeal the tribunal.
In the meantime, APM joined INEC, APC, Tinubu, Kashim Shettima, and Kabir Masari in its petition. Masari served as a vice presidential placeholder during the primaries until being replaced by Mr. Shettima.
APM is challenging the results of the presidential election on the grounds of claimed serious violations of the electoral laws and INEC regulations.
In a 66-page petition, Atiku and the PDP ask the tribunal to certify him as the winner of the election or to order a fresh one.
The former vice president is challenging the results on the grounds of numerous charges, such as irregularities in the voting procedure and inconsistencies in the vote tally.
AA Petition Against Tinubu Dismissed By  Presidential Election Tribunal
A petition filed by the Action Alliance (AA) challenging Bola Tinubu’s victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the presidential election has been dismissed by the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.
At the tribunal’s pre-hearing session on Monday, the party withdrew the petition against Tinubu’s victory, which was marked: CA/PEPC/01/2023.
The leader of the party’s legal team, Oba Maduabuchi (SAN), announced the withdrawal of the petition and stated that it was done as a result of his client’s decision not to pursue the matter further.
None of the delegates from the other parties, however, objected once the Action Alliance announced its decision to revoke the petition.
David Okonigbuan, the AA’s Presidential Candidate for, filed a petition challenging his exclusion from the election against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the APC, Tinubu, and Hamza Al Mustapha.
Okonigbuan said in the petition that Al-Mustapha, who was listed by INEC as a presidential candidate, was also fielded by the party.
According to Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani, who presided over the proceedings, said the dismissal was legal under the terms of the Electoral Act.
The Action Peoples Party (APP) petition, marked: CA/PEPC/02/2023, is now being considered by the court.
