President Tinubu Returns from UK Vacation, Meets Officials Amid Reshuffle Speculation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has resumed his duties at the State House in Abuja following a two-week vacation in the United Kingdom. Upon his return to Nigeria on Saturday, he spent his first day back at work on Monday, engaging in meetings with several high-ranking aides and officials.

Among the first to meet with Tinubu were National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa. He also consulted with his Special Adviser on Policy Coordination and Head of the Central Delivery Coordination Unit, Ms. Hadiza Bala-Usman, who is responsible for evaluating the performance of his appointees, including ministers.

Other officials who held discussions with the president included Minister of Solid Minerals Development Dele Alake, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Chairman and Special Adviser on Revenue Zacch Adedeji, and Minister of Works Dave Umahi. Additionally, Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike were present, reportedly staying late into the evening as Tinubu concluded his workday before returning to his official residence.

Sources at the State House indicated that many individuals meeting with Tinubu were involved in initiatives aimed at boosting the economy and managing political and performance-related tasks. Speculation regarding a potential cabinet reshuffle has grown, particularly following Hadiza Bala-Usman’s presence in the president’s office. Tinubu has previously indicated intentions to remove underperforming appointees.

Earlier, on September 25, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga and Senior Special Assistant on Digital and New Media O’tega Ogra confirmed that a cabinet reshuffle was imminent, further heightening expectations of upcoming changes.
