The Nigeria Police Force has extended the enforcement deadline for the Tinted Glass Permit to August 12, 2025, following public outcry over the reactivation of the digital application process.
Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, approved the extension to allow for a comprehensive review of the system and to ensure the process remains user-friendly, secure, and accessible to all Nigerians.
In a statement issued on June 14, 2025, by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Police said the move reflects its commitment to transparent, inclusive, and citizen-focused policing.
“The Force wishes to affirm that it has not ignored the voices of Nigerians,” the statement read. “Rather, these voices have been instrumental in guiding ongoing reviews of the process.”
The extension will enable the Police to refine the system further and prevent any undue hardship for applicants. It also aims to ensure a more efficient permit system through both physical and digital channels, incorporating enhanced verification mechanisms and streamlined procedures to reduce delays and frustration.
Citizens were reminded to use only the official platform, http://possap.gov.ng, for new applications and renewals. The Police also urged the public to report any unauthorised fees or extortion during the application or biometric capturing process via the hotline: 09169967000.
Reaffirming its commitment to public service, the Police said it remains focused on safety, digital innovation, and continuous service improvement, while appreciating the patience and cooperation of the Nigerian people.
