Authorities in Edo State have arrested students involved in a bullying incident at Igbinedion Education Centre, with plans to charge them to a juvenile court.
According to police spokesperson Eno Ikoedem, all individuals linked to the assault have been identified and apprehended following a detailed investigation.
The suspects will be prosecuted in a family court in line with laws on juvenile justice and child protection.
The incident, which sparked outrage online, involved two students physically assaulting a fellow student who was seen helpless on the ground in a viral video.
In response, the police have intensified the “Operation Safe Schools” initiative across secondary schools in Edo State to strengthen supervision and prevent future occurrences.
Authorities also launched awareness campaigns targeting cultism and other vices among students, focusing on reorientation and discipline.
The Edo State Police Command assured the public that justice will be served while measures are being put in place to safeguard students and maintain order.
