In the early hours of Sunday, the Peoples Democratic Party’s, PDP elective national convention ended, with newly elected National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu declaring that the party is back to reclaim power from the All Progressives Congress.
The former Senate President entered the elective convention as the Northern PDP leaders’ consensus candidate.
Despite the consensus, delegates cast their votes for all of the candidates.
A total of 3,600 National Convention accredited delegates were called to vote.
Delegates from Abia and Adamawa states were the first to be summoned. Abia has 116 delegates, while Adamawa has 118.
This is just as members of the next National Working Committee were declared by the Governor of Adamawa State and Chairman of the Convention Organising Committee, Ahmadu Fintiri.
3,600 delegates voted for new members of the NWC of the PDP at the convention, with only the office of the Deputy National Chairman (South) contested out of the 21 NWC positions.
