Senate President Godswill Akpabio has boldly claimed that by the 2027 general election, there will be no political parties left in Akwa Ibom State, declaring a total collapse of party lines in favor of key individuals.
Speaking during his midterm empowerment briefing at the Ikot Ekpene township stadium on Friday, Akpabio, who represents Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost its relevance in the state.
“As I speak with you, there is nothing like a political party in 2027 in Akwa Ibom State again,” he said.
“For the Senate of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, all political parties have collapsed to vote for Senator Godswill Akpabio.”
He further declared that all political forces in the state have united behind Governor Umo Eno for a second term and behind President Bola Tinubu at the national level.
“Akwa Ibom has moved to vote for President Bola Tinubu, Eno for governor of Akwa Ibom State, and Senator Akpabio for Senate.”
Taking a swipe at the PDP, Akpabio added:
“The Peoples Democratic Party is in shreds and the umbrella can no longer protect.”
Akpabio’s comments mark a sharp escalation in political rhetoric as the 2027 elections approach, potentially signalling a realignment of power structures in Akwa Ibom.
