Osun State Working on New Minimum Wage for Civil Servants – Governor Adeleke

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has announced that his administration is making strides toward establishing a new minimum wage for civil servants. He shared this information during the grand finale of the 14th convocation ceremony at Osun State University, held at the university’s main campus in Osogbo on Saturday.

Governor Adeleke recognized the difficulties workers are facing due to the recent removal of fuel subsidies, which has intensified their financial challenges. He reassured state employees that measures are being taken to ease these burdens, including the implementation of a new wage structure.

“We are currently working on the modalities for implementing the newly approved minimum wage,” the governor stated, underscoring his administration’s commitment to addressing the economic impacts on workers.

Beyond labor issues, Governor Adeleke highlighted several initiatives aimed at promoting the development of Osun State University. These initiatives include the completion of an office complex at the Isale-Osun campus, essential for health program accreditations, and the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Anatomy Complex.

The governor also detailed ongoing infrastructure projects, such as road construction leading to the student area at Sasha Market and other university campuses. He further mentioned that his administration has settled a year’s worth of arrears for staff and provided palliative allowances to all workers.

Governor Adeleke encouraged the university community to maintain harmony and concentrate on the institution’s advancement. He also urged parents and guardians to continue supporting their children as they progress in life. Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of Osun State University, Prof. Clement Adebooye, expressed confidence in the graduates, noting that they are well-prepared to make significant contributions to Nigeria’s public service, economy, and global workforce.
