Osun Governor Adeleke Ensures Support for People with Disabilities

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to improving the lives of People with Disabilities (PWDs). In a bid to ensure their well-being, he distributed health insurance cards to 9,500 PWDs enrolled in the state’s health insurance program, granting them free access to healthcare.

The event, which took place in Osogbo, also saw Governor Adeleke presenting life-support gadgets including automated and manual wheelchairs, crutches, artificial limbs, and walking sticks to enhance the mobility of the beneficiaries. Expressing his commitment to PWDs, the governor stated, “I am extremely glad that today I am presenting the OHIS card for access to free healthcare to the group of people living with disability across the state.”

Further highlighting his administration’s support, Adeleke remarked, “I am not only presenting the cards, but I am also providing them with life-support gadgets and state-of-the-art medical aids that will make their existence more meaningful. They are my people; they voted for me, and they have been doing everything to support me.”

In addition to the health insurance cards and mobility aids, the governor also announced that some PWDs would receive free surgical procedures for their medical conditions.

Dr. Razak Akindele, Executive Secretary of the Osun Health Insurance Agency (OSHIA), reiterated the agency’s commitment to providing high-quality healthcare services to vulnerable groups, ensuring they receive support free of charge.
