Osun Government Approves Re-Scheduled Working Days and Extended Palliatives for Civil Servants

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has approved a new work schedule for civil servants and extended palliatives to ease the burden of rising transportation costs. This decision, outlined in a circular from the office of the Head of Service, reflects the governor’s commitment to workers’ welfare amid Nigeria’s current economic challenges.

The new work schedule, effective immediately, categorizes public servants based on their grade levels:

GL.01 to GL.10: Three working days per week.

GL.12 to GL.17: Four working days per week.

Essential workers, including medical staff, security officers, political office holders, and accounting officers, are exempt from the new schedule.  Additionally, the governor has extended the payment of palliatives to public servants for the next two months, providing relief until the new minimum wage takes effect.

The arrangement of specific workdays for eligible public servants will be managed by accounting officers in various ministries, departments, and agencies.
