Osogbo Set For Inauguration Of Adeleke As Osun State Governor

Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke will be making history today as the sixth civilian governor of Osun State in his  inauguration set to take place today at Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

The governor and his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, will be sworn in this morning at the Osogbo Township Stadium in the state capital by the Osun Chief Judge, Justice Adepele Ojo.

Also expected at the event are stalwarts and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nationwide including the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar, his running mate Ifeanyi Okowa, the national chairman of the party Iyorchia Ayu and governors.

Traditional rulers, religious leaders, captains of industries, scholars, artists, civil society organisations, community leaders and residents of Osun are also expected to grace the occasion in their numbers.

It is understood that the Osogbo township stadium is already wearing a new look for the swearing-in ceremony while Ede, the hometown of Adeleke is in a mood of celebration.

A combined team of security operatives has also been deployed to the stadium and its adjoining environment to provide adequate security.

Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Adeleke dynasty is from Ede in Osun West Senatorial District of Osun State. He is the second of his siblings to be elected governor of the state, with late Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke being the first and only civilian governor.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him elected after he defeated the incumbent, Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and others in the July 16, 2022, Osun governor election.

Ede, the incoming governor’s hometown, is already buzzing with excitement at the emergence of one of their own as governor of Osun.
