In celebration of his 85th birthday, Olusegun Obasanjo, the former president of Nigeria, drove a keke on Saturday.
The elder statesman took several of the roadways in Abeokuta, the state’s capital, to pick up passengers.
Residents of the area became fascinated in the former president and cheered him while taking pictures.
Obasanjo, who gave passengers rides, passed by places like Kuto Market, NNPC Mega Station, and Moshood Abiola, among others.
The elder statesman’s action was part of his Free Keke Programme of the Youth Development Centre of Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL).
Young Nigerians were urged by Obasanjo not to abandon their country to those who were destroying it.
He said youths in the country should take advantage of the available opportunities to make an impact.
Obasanjo said, “Things are not what they should be but youths, individually and collectively, must make contributions to make things the way they should be.
“If you leave things to those who are messing it up for you and who are saying you are the leaders of tomorrow, you will never have that tomorrow.
“God has given you the innate ability to be what He wants you to be. If you make up your mind, God will help you and provide people who would help you.”
