Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has reassured Nigerians about his health, refuting rumors of his death circulating on social media. Speaking at the inauguration of the reconstructed Old-Garage/Oke-Fia Road in Osogbo, Osun State, Obasanjo stated, “I heard the rumour that I was dead. I saw it on social media. I quickly told my children and my relations that it was not true and that I’m alive. Those that want me dead, that is their wish but God still keeps me alive.”
Obasanjo also praised Governor Ademola Adeleke’s governance, urging him to continue his developmental efforts in the state.
Governor Adeleke, in his address, outlined the accomplishments of his administration and upcoming projects. “Our administration has constructed over 120 kilometers of roads across the state. Two major flyovers are also progressing to completion at Osogbo while works are advancing at the Ile Ife Flyover and Ilesa dualisation,” he said.
He also highlighted the Iwo-Osogbo road and the dualization of the Odoori-Adeeke Road in Iwo, which will be executed in two phases. “The first phase will reach Post Office and Oluwo Palace, while the second phase will extend from Post Office to Adeeke Junction,” Adeleke explained.
Governor Adeleke further emphasized that these projects are being funded without loans, stressing that the government is focusing on curbing financial leakages and using local resources to maintain high standards in project execution. “We only block leakages in the state finance and employ local content to moderate project costs,” he stated.
Adeleke concluded by assuring the people of Osun that his government would complete all ongoing projects and continue addressing the state’s infrastructural and social needs. “For the second half of our government, I reassure all sons and daughters of Osun State that the government under my leadership will complete all ongoing projects,” he said.
