Northeast Governors Convene In Yola To Address Regional Challenges

Governors representing the Northeast region gathered in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, for a meeting aimed at addressing the prevailing challenges in the area. 
The event took place on Saturday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Yola and was attended by all six governors from the region. Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno, the forum’s chairman, stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to overcome the complex challenges facing the Northeast.
 The governors expressed a renewed commitment to working together to address issues such as insecurity, poverty, and underdevelopment in the region.
Governor Zulum urged the federal government to provide support for critical issues like road infrastructure, functional rail lines, and the optimal use of waterways.
 Commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his peace promotion efforts, Zulum highlighted the need for sustained regional peace and encouraged fellow governors to focus on creating opportunities for their citizens. Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the host, recognized the forum’s role in attracting attention to the Northeast and acknowledged its success in contributing to the battle against insurgency.
 He credited the governors’ collective efforts for restoring peace and stability to the region, emphasizing their commitment to development, peace, and tranquility in the Northeast states.
 Governor Zulum proposed stimulating small industries and building agricultural value chains as strategies to address unemployment and poverty in the region.
