North Central Governors Pledge Joint Action Against Rising Insecurity

Governors from the North Central geopolitical zone have raised alarms over the growing insecurity in the region, vowing to take decisive action in collaboration with security agencies.

The meeting, convened by the Chairman of the forum and Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, aimed to address the region’s security challenges and explore opportunities for regional growth. Governor Sule stressed the need for unity in tackling the increasing attacks in Plateau, Benue, and Kwara States, which have led to tragic loss of lives.

“We share common interests in security and economic development. The recent signing of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) Act by President Bola Tinubu provides us with an opportunity to ensure that such initiatives benefit our people,” Sule said.

The governors emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing security concerns and economic growth. Governor Sule also highlighted the region’s significant role in Nigeria’s agricultural output and solid mineral production, urging continued investment to foster job creation and attract investors.

The forum resolved to enhance regular consultations, improve intelligence-sharing among security agencies, and use the NCDC to drive socio-economic and infrastructure development across the zone. They also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his support and called for continued partnerships with the Federal Government, private sector, and development partners to ensure sustained progress in the region.
