However, it is understood that Johnson, a lawyer, is serving as a stand-in to satisfy the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to news posted on The Cable, the emergence of Johnson was verified on Saturday by an unnamed top official of the NNPP.
“Barrister Ladipo Johnson is standing in as our vice-presidential candidate and his name has been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission,” the official said.
This comes only hours after the Director-General of the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Organization, Doyin Okupe, admitted on Friday that the Labour Party cannot defeat the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress on its own.
According to the former presidential spokesperson, the Labour Party requires the backing of parties such as the Social Democratic Party, the Labour Congress, and others in the country.
According to Okupe, the LP is assembling the largest and most powerful political alliance in Nigerian history.
