The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has emphasized the need for effective leadership to overcome Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges.
In a statement signed by the institute’s Director of Public Relations, Stanley Ogadigo, NIPR President and Chairman of Council, Dr. Ike Neliaku, highlighted leadership as a critical issue requiring urgent attention.
“While we believe in Nigeria’s strength, potential, and viability, effective leadership remains a challenge that must be addressed for a better Nigeria,” Neliaku stated in his New Year message.
He stressed the importance of communication in exceptional leadership, adding, “Effective leadership is essential across public, private, formal, and informal sectors to tackle the nation’s developmental challenges.”
Dr. Neliaku also underscored the value of good followership, urging citizens to support leaders and engage in meaningful relationships for collective progress. “Effective leadership must rest on the shoulders of strong followers for meaningful development to occur,” he noted.
As an institute with expertise in leadership communication, NIPR assured its readiness to support capacity-building efforts for leaders to deliver quality service to the populace.
Reflecting on the challenges of the past year, Neliaku encouraged Nigerians to approach the new year with hope and confidence, focusing on relationships and initiatives that inspire a brighter future for the nation.
