NIMC Restores Verification Service Portal

The National Identity Management Commission said on Saturday that the verification service portal for National Identification Numbers has been restored.

The commission’s portal has been unavailable due to maintenance by one of NIMC’s network service providers.

Telecommunication firms, banks, and government institutions that rely on NIN before providing services have been affected by the changes.

Kayode Adegoke, NIMC’s Head of Corporate Communications, confirmed the portal’s restoration in a statement released on Saturday.

Customers and service providers were encouraged to use the restored platform, according to NIMC.

He wrote, “The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) is pleased to announce that the National Identification Number (NIN) Verification Service (NVS) portal, which went down a few days ago due to maintenance by one of the Commission’s network service providers of its infrastructure, has been fully restored.

“Consequently, customers and service providers can now take full advantage of the two verification platforms – Tokenization and NVS – which are both effective for verification and authentication of the National Identification Number.”

The commission praised Nigerians for their support and usage of the tokenization technology during the NVS outage.

According to NIMC, its service delivery would include new identity management technologies.
