Nigeria Police Launches Platform for Reporting Cybercrimes

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has introduced a new digital platform for Nigerians to report cybercrimes. According to Muyiwa Adejobi, the force spokesperson, this initiative aims to combat cybercrime and enhance the security of the country’s digital space.
The upgraded domain, accessible at [nccc.npf.gov.ng/ereport/signin](https://nccc.npf.gov.ng/ereport/signin), features enhanced security measures to protect user information and ensure confidentiality. This new platform, managed by the NPF National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), replaces the previous site, incb.npf.gov.ng, and includes improved tracking and response mechanisms for timely action on reported cases.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has encouraged the public to utilize this platform for reporting cybercrime activities.
This development follows President Bola Tinubu’s signing of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Amendment Act, 2024, which updates sections of the 2015 Cybercrimes Act.
Despite these advancements, stakeholders have raised concerns about security agencies potentially misusing the Cybercrimes Act to target journalists and activists.
